The Danish capital has long been one of the world’s most popular convention cities. Last year was the busiest year the city has ever seen in terms of number of delegates, which was recently highlighted in ICCA’s new Statistics Report where Copenhagen ranked 4th in total number of participants with close to 100.000 participants and only 110 participants short of snatching the 3rd place from Barcelona.
Besides being a popular and effective MICE destination, Copenhagen also has a strong leisure brand with the city’s reputation for being a liveable, sustainable and gastronomic capital.
It was evident that Copenhagen was popular among delegates when a range of congresses held in the city last year each attracted record numbers of attendees among these was Women Deliver, ESPEN and ESMO.
The city has attracted a range of big congresses including ERA-EDTA, EAU and Euroanasthesia whom all chose Copenhagen for next year which demonstrates not only the city’s growing capacity but also an increasing popularity and interest in the MICE destination Copenhagen.
Copenhagen was also ranked 14th most popular city worldwide based on the number of international association meetings held in 2016.
