Copenhagen brings you closer to sustainable solutions and meetings

Copenhagen is a frontrunner when it comes to adopting sustainable solutions and the city has one of the world's most ambitious climate policies - with a goal of being the first carbon-neutral capital city by 2025. As a result, it is almost impossible not to have a sustainable meeting in the Danish capital Copenhagen.

Getting around
Copenhagen was named the world's most bike-friendly city in 2017. Its compact city centre makes walking between meeting venues, hotels, sights, restaurants and shopping areas a matter of minutes. Or join the locals and go by bike. Copenhagen is home to the world’s busiest bicycle lane, used by 36,000 cyclists per day and the city’s rush hour differs from most others. Here it is not the roads but the bicycle lanes which are crowded, mainly because 56% of all Copenhageners commute by bike. In 2016, bicycles even outnumbered cars in Copenhagen.

Sustainable accommodation and venues in Copenhagen
Nearly 70% of the hotel rooms in Copenhagen are eco-certified, so sleeping with a green conscious is not a challenge. Many of the city’s convention venues are Green Key certified, including the two largest venues Bella Center and Tivoli Congress Center.

International hotel chains such as Hilton and Radisson have their own environmental programmes. For instance, starting in 2012, Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts took an ambitious engagement with the Think Planet strategy with a commitment to reduce energy consumption by 25% in five years.

The city of Copenhagen and Copenhagen CVB was ranked 2nd in the first-ever sustainability ranking for event destinations worldwide, the Global Destination Sustainability Index, in 2016.

Local and sustainable produce
A great selection of the city’s restaurant, cafés and hotels are riding the “green-wave”, taking the city to a completely new level of eco-friendliness ensuring that you can eat environmentally friendly food at all price levels.

Restaurant Geranium holds three Michelin-stars and only serves organic food and beverages and, in general, you will encounter an increasing desire for largely Nordic produce and food made in harmony with nature.
